Residential and commercial building, Maximilianstrasse

Munich / Germany
2002 - 2003 / 2006 - 2008

Client: private

This listed combination dating back to the 1870s with residential and commercial usage (23 flats and commercial units) enjoys a select location in the city center. The emergency roof built during the last war and the cornices are being replaced according to historic records. There are three new town apartments with terraces which offer very attractive living space in a prime location.

The overall concept included the revitalization of the courtyards and passage ways, and a special sequence of roofed and open areas provide access as well as dwelling space. The yards derive their character through green and object landscaping (e.g., hovering bench, slim water basin).

New lighting and orientation systems are accentuating the characteristics of courtyards and passage ways.
