Zennerstrasse Munich

Office and Workshops Building
Munich, Germany
1994 - 1996

client: Marcel Dittrich

in collaboration with Florian Aicher

A munich workshop building at the rear of an elegant Art Nouveau building, facing an inner courtyard amidst a grey housing estate from the 70’s, re-emerges as a new building with hall-like open spaces. Due to a high degree of contamination encountered at the start of the project, the largest part of the building substance had to be removed. Refurbisment becomes new build without having to change the design concept.

Large format glazing is the answer to the shade effect in the courtyard. This generous natural lighting creates the conditions for the building’s intended purpose – workshops and offices.
